Ridding your home of insects will help discourage spiders from sharing your habitat, as will removal of webbing. Eventually, if no other food source happens into your house, control is inevitable. Trimming weeds around the foundations and removing debris will discourage spiders and their insect food source from living next to the house. But totally eliminating the food source takes immaculate cleanliness, and rigid pest control.  Sometimes, spiders have to be chemically treated.
